English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL): SCQF Levels 4-6 Certificate
What is special about this course?
ESOL courses enable non-native speakers of English to develop their English language skills at different levels through the study of reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
Enhanced language skills are beneficial for everyday life, work and study in the UK. ESOL qualifications provide you with opportunities to gain better employment prospects and to progress onto further courses of study in further and higher education.
If you are studying the advanced course you will also have the opportunity to gain a SCQF Level 6 (Higher) exam qualification.
Higher ESOL is accepted as an entry requirement by universities across Scotland and is accepted in place of Higher English for entry to many courses, including PGDE Secondary Education.

In the ESOL department we very much enjoy meeting and supporting our students who come from around the world. It is extremely rewarding to be able to help them to improve their English for life and work in the UK, or in their home countries. Siobhan Mackie, ESOL Lecturer
I started seeing significant changes in my English as soon as I joined the classes and
I have been able to understand what mistakes I make when speaking and why, which is one of the most difficult things in a language. Thanks to the course I have received an offer to study to become a secondary school teacher.
