Advanced Nail Technology SCQF Level 5
What is special about this course?
Our Advanced Nail Technology course has been specifically designed to provide a qualification based on what nail technicians, old and new, need and want from the industry. It combines traditional and current techniques making this course comprehensive, with just about everything you would need to become a confident and knowledgeable nail technician.
As part of this 18-week course you will learn:

You will work on fee paying clients throughout your course and as part of a collaborative team within our realistic working salon. You may also engage in cross college or external community events as part of your study.
Entry requirements
- Aged 16 or over
- Three National 4s (including English) OR;
- a SCQF Level 4 course or equivalent OR;
- completion of all 12 credits from the Beauty and Aesthetic Therapies (SCQF Level 4) course.
Applications are also encouraged from prospective students without the standard entry requirements as listed above.

Equipment
You will be required to purchase a kit/uniform as part of this course (approx. £600). If you are eligible for a bursary these kit costs will be covered. Infill students may be required to purchase a kit for some units.
You will be responsible for sourcing your own clients for assessment.
You must also work and be worked on for all practical units.

This is a practical based course with face-to-face practical classes on campus supplemented with our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

Normally, if you are studying full time for the first time and are Ordinarily Resident in Scotland your course fees will be covered through the information you provide on your course application.
If you are studying part time and are on low income or in receipt of certain benefits your course fees may be covered by a fee waiver.
If you are not Ordinarily Resident in Scotland, you may need to pay course fees.

What can I do on completion of my course?
Successful completion of this course will allow you into employment as an employed or self-employed nail technician working from home, within a salon or as a mobile nail technician. You could gain employment within a beauty salon doing nails, and there are lots of pathways and opportunities available once qualified in this very popular career path.
Access to the full time Beauty & Aesthetic Therapies SCQF Level 5 course may be given upon completion of all 10 credits.
