Leigh Miele, Training Co-ordinator (Employability)

As part of the Employability team, I provide 1-to-1 and group support to explore career options across training, volunteering and employment.

A big part of my role is to organise sector-based work academies which can be from 1 to 3 weeks long. Giving clients the opportunity to gain several qualifications over a short period of time. They also benefit from employability skills, industry visits and work placements.

1-1 support I offer can be from updating CVs and job search to preparing clients for interviews or identifying training that will enhance clients chances of gaining employment.

  • Where I started: After leaving school I attended UHI Moray to continue my Highers, before going to the University of Aberdeen to complete a BSc in Pharmacology and Bio-business.
  • Favourite quote: “Before anything else, preparation is the key to success” - Alexander Graham Bell
  • Favourite place in Moray: Burghead beach as the sun sets or the top of Ben Rinnes on a clear, sunny day.
  • Favourite part of my job: I really enjoy meeting new people who will benefit from what we can offer on our employability project. Creating and developing employment opportunities in Moray is part of the role I’m proud of.

Marc Luxon, Employability Co-ordinator

My role as an Employability Coordinator varies on a day-to-day basis.

I offer tailored 1:1 support for a range of clients with different needs. I ensure my appointments are fun, dynamic and engaging so the client feels safe and confident throughout.

Another big part of my job is to help with creating CV’s, offering interview support, help with applications and to explore training options which will help with client’s journeys into sustainable employment or education.

  • Where I started: After attending Forres Academy, I came to UHI Moray to complete Higher Sports Coaching with Development of Sport. I then went on to complete my HNC & HND in the same subject.
  • Favourite quote: “Visualise, Concentrate, Achieve”
  • Favourite place in Moray: Findhorn
  • Favourite part of my job: My favourite part of the job is that no one day is the same. Being able to offer support and watch how much of an impact and change I can have to people’s lives is amazing. I also have a very supportive team which makes it even better.

Being able to work with clients on a 1:1 basis enables us to provide individual and tailored support, including CV and interview preparation.

I also assist on group sector-based courses where accredited and vocational qualifications can be achieved.

  • Where I started: After school I went on to do my Undergraduate Degree in Dance Making and Performance in Coventry, before gaining seasonal employment in France, Bulgaria, Wales and Italy. I have lived in Moray for the past two and a half years, and recently had a little girl who definitely keeps me on my toes!
