National Qualifications and Certificates
National Qualifications (NQs) are College Certificate programmes designed by us to prepare you for work and act as stepping stones to Higher Education. Some of our full-time NQ’s also have an in-built nationally recognised qualification, such as a National Progression Award (NPA).
National Certificates (NCs) are national programmes designed by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) which also prepare you for work and act as stepping-stones to higher education.
Higher National Certificates and Diplomas (HNC/D)
For those looking to gain a higher education qualification without committing to a full degree, HNC/D courses are an excellent option. These courses are designed to provide practical skills and knowledge that are highly valued by employers. They also offer a pathway to further education, allowing you to progress to a degree if you choose.
Our HNC/D courses cover a wide range of subjects, from engineering to counselling, ensuring that you can find a course that aligns with your career aspirations. The courses are structured to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, making you job-ready upon completion.
Degrees
If you have the right entry requirements you can go straight into any degree with us, and across the UHI partnership, including:
- Undergraduate degrees such as BA, BSc and BEng courses provide a broad education in a specific field or discipline. These typically lasts three to four years
- Masters (such as MA, MSc) and a number of postgrad diploma courses are intended for people who’ve already gained a degree and normally take one year to complete.
Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships are becoming an increasingly popular pathway for students and professionals alike. At UHI Moray, we offer Foundation Apprenticeships (FAs) and Modern Apprenticeships (MAs).
- Foundation Apprenticeships offer S5 and S6 pupils a unique blend of academic and vocational learning, providing early exposure to the workplace. This approach not only enhances students' understanding of employer expectations but also broadens their career horizons while they are still in school.
- Modern Apprenticeships (MAs) present an excellent opportunity to earn while learning. These programs combine paid employment with the pursuit of recognized qualifications, focusing on work-based SVQs and essential core skills. Some frameworks even include campus-based learning.
Multiply Numeracy Programme
Numeracy skills are essential in everyday life and the workplace. Our Multiply Numeracy Programme aims to improve these skills through free personal tutoring and digital training. This programme is open to anyone aged 16 and above and is designed to fit around your schedule.
Our Multiply courses cover practical skills such as budgeting, scheduling, and measurement, helping you tackle real-life problems with confidence. Upon successful completion, you will receive a formal qualification that can open doors to better job opportunities and further education.
