Meet our Support Staff: Jack, Active Campus Co-ordinator
We caught up with Jack, who shares with us all about his role as our Active Campus Co-ordinator
Hi Jack! Can you start by telling us about you?
I'm Jack, my role as the Active Campus Co-ordinator includes planning and delivering various activities for students and staff with the aim of having a healthier campus both physically and mentally.
Another part of my role is also to identify people who may have a barrier preventing them from joining in with sport and physical activity and creating an intervention which will break these barriers down.
Finally, it is also within my remit to highlight pathways from school to sport related courses here at UHU Moray, as well as creating pathways from campus sport to grassroots clubs in the wider community.
What made you pursue your career?
While in school I always enjoyed PE and extra-curricular sport and physical activity.
Following on from finishing school in 2016, I completed my HNC Sports Coaching here at UHI Moray in 2017, before taking a year out for some work experience. In 2019, I completed my HND Sports Coaching at City of Glasgow college.
After impressing on a college work placement, this led to numerous opportunities in employment within the sports industry in the central belt, culminating with a role as an Active School Assistant with South Ayrshire Council which led me to my role here as Active Campus Co-ordinator.
What activities do you support on campus?

What's the best part of your job?
Being involved in sport at a grassroots level has given me the opportunity to create and support projects that have had a positive effect on people’s lives, as well as see people progress into participating at a higher level.
Lastly, what is your favourite food/ meal?
Curry, pizzas, kebabs and Chinese takeaway. Probably everything somebody promoting a healthy lifestyle shouldn’t eat!
