It’s been a busy semester for our horticulture students
With community projects, school visits and open days our horticulture students have been very busy. Our courses are designed to provide students with personal and professional skills as well as gardening techniques which they use to maintain the Biblical Garden in Elgin. Read our newsletter to find out exactly what they have been getting up to…
The college horticulture department is based at the Biblical garden offering courses across a range of levels giving students hands on practical experience working in the garden. Students can study from SCQF Level 4 to SCQF Level 6 full time from only 2½ days per week.
If you are interested in getting involved with community projects or looking to enter the horticulture industry, why not develop your skills in gardening and landscaping this August:

Here’s a photo of our students at Logie Steading, they spent the day exploring the wonderful gardens.
Seafield Primary School
In May the SCQF Level 6 students welcomed pupils from Seafield Primary School to the Biblical Garden to help plant the wild flower bank. Everyone did a brilliant job and the children had a great day out!
National Gardening Week
As part of National Gardening Week our students and staff were delighted to welcome guest speakers Mark and Bruce from the University of Aberdeen Botanical Gardens and Archie from Broadley Garden Centre to present at the Biblical Garden giving an insight into their work.
Hythehill School Visit
Our horticulture students had some very special helpers in June at the Biblical Garden from Hythehill Primary School. The P1s had a great day learning about gardening and even helped plant the flowers. Our students really enjoyed engaging with the children and teaching them facts about the garden.
The Big Reveal
The Biblical Garden opened its gates offering the public a preview before they officially opened the garden. The students use their skills and knowledge learnt throughout their course to maintain the garden and were delighted to invite the public to come view their work. They also did a great job organising tours, talks and serving cups of teas and cakes on the day.
