Moray College UHI Higher Education Student of the Year
We are delighted to announce Christopher Miller has been awarded Moray College UHI Higher Education Student of the Year.
Christopher graduated in October with First Class BSc (Hons) in Sustainable Development (Renewable Energy) degree. He decided to study with Moray College UHI part-time over 7 years while working at RAF Lossiemouth due to the online study options and course content: “the Sustainable Development programme provided by Moray College as part of the University of the Highlands and Islands suited all my requirements; it could be studied wholly online (essential when deploying overseas frequently with the RAF), covered my areas of interest (environment, renewable energy, sustainability, community development and mountain areas) and provided the skills and knowledge to enhance employment opportunities.”
Whilst working full-time, Christopher found the course extremely challenging as he was deployed throughout the years and found himself writing essays in Afghanistan, Cyprus, Dubai and Las Vegas. He felt throughout all the modules the lecturers and his Personal Academic Tutor, Donna Clark were very flexible and supportive.
Christopher also said: “overall I really enjoyed my studies and found the degree programme very interesting due to the variety of topics covered. The best part was completing my dissertation on community energy projects in Scotland. I am still continuing working in the RAF however I feel completion of my degree has definitely increased my employment prospects when I decide to leave. As well as Donna and all of my lecturers I would like to thank my wife Laura for her patience and support.”
