Lauren McLaughlin is a visual artist, writer and curator based in Aberdeen. Lauren is also the founder of Spilt Milk; a social enterprise whose mission is to support the work of artists who identify as m/others, and empower m/others in the local community through artist-led activities.

Lauren graduated with BA (Hons) Fine Art from Central Saint Martins, London in 2012, and MA Applied Arts & Social Practice from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh in 2021. Lauren’s work has been exhibited throughout the UK and Internationally; including recent group exhibitions at The Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh; Bayfront Park, Sarasota, Florida; Open Eye Gallery Liverpool, and Lewisham ArtHouse London. Her work is included in the Birth Rites Collection; a permanent, public collection of artworks exploring the theme of birth, currently housed at The University of Kent. Lauren has been commissioned to write for a number of publications and platforms including We Can’t Afford to Work for Love (Axisweb, UK 2024), An Artist and A Mother (Demeter Press, Canada 2023), This is Gender (In)Equality (Global Health Report, UK, 2023) and  Unfinished Business (Over Journal, Photo Ireland, 2022). Lauren’s practice has been publicly funded by Creative Scotland, King’s College Cultural Institute, The Hope Scott Trust, Magnetic North Theatre’s Seed Fund and Aberdeen City Council.
