I am the Curriculum Leader in Beauty & Aesthetics Therapies and work alongside a great team of lecturers to provide the necessary practical skills and knowledge and understanding for students to embark and progress throughout their learning journey. We have a very busy department, overseeing part-time senior phase school students and full-time Beauty and Aesthetic Therapies provision. Students come on board and can learn skills that will enable them to become a well-rounded senior therapist while developing many transferable skills along the way. I enjoy seeing students develop skills and confidence within our subject area.
I have been a therapist for many years and owned a successful Beauty Therapy business, so I have a lot of expertise to bring to the practical salons. Since joining UHI Moray as a lecturer 20 years ago I have seen many changes in the subject area. Our world is constantly evolving, and I enjoy being involved in the quality processes and changes that we must implement to ensure currency in our department. In my role as Curriculum Leader, I work closely with a very dedicated and forward-thinking team, I really enjoy this aspect and the associated camaraderie. I am a social person who loves company and taking an interest in people; I think it is part of the job!
At home, I have two teenage sons, my partner also has two teenage boys, so my house is very rarely quiet. My Cockapoo dogs are constantly by my side and are my forever friends; my house is like a zoo with two cats and a tortoise. All in all, life is very busy but luckily, that’s the way I like it.
