HN Cluster: Relationship-Centred Counselling Skills (SCQF Level 7)

Throughout this course you will examine different theoretical concepts of counselling and develop foundational counselling skills.
You will learn about the concept and process of counselling within a 3 stage model, developing a range of communication skills while working with your peers and colleagues. This form of study will allow you to gain more insight into the client/counsellor relationship, difficulties which may arise in counselling relationships and the counselling process.
You will develop self-awareness and we encourage personal growth throughout the course, providing opportunity for developing increased awareness of relationships with others.

Entry Requirements:
- You should have well-developed communications skills and relevant experience.
- Although not compulsory it would be beneficial to have completed our Introduction to Counselling course.

You will study through a combination of face-to-face classes on campus and remote learning, where some lectures and sessions are timetabled remotely via video conferencing and our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), with support from your lecturers.

You will be assessed through a range of methods, including practical and written assessments.
This fits with a holistic approach and allows candidates to demonstrate practically across the award and through reflective practice.

On completion of this programme, students can use these modules to successfully progress onto our HNC in Counselling. This then provides the opportunity to progress into our HND Counselling where you can qualify as a professional counsellor. From there you will have opportunities in a variety of areas such as:
