Ingrid Watt a graduate from the Moray School of Art is one of the exhibitors at the 'New Ground' - Orkney’s Arts Graduates Exhibition which runs till the 16th March at the Pier Arts Centre, Orkney.

Exhibitions of work by Orkney’s recent art graduates have been a regular feature at the gallery since it opened in 1979. This will be the tenth such exhibition and includes work by 18 young artists who received their secondary education in Orkney and have gone on to graduate with degree awards in art and design from art schools and colleges throughout the UK including Moray School of Art.

New Ground brings together a wide variety of media, including: drawing & painting; illustration; film; photography; jewellery; fashion & textiles; furniture and sculptural works. The exhibition reflects the talent that is fostered and supported in Orkney, both within the formal education system and through engagement with the wider artistic and cultural community.

Many of the artists have been or are still involved with the Pier Arts Centre’s Piergroup, which aims to give a platform for young people to engage and inform the Centre’s activity through an ongoing programme of events and workshops.

Also on display will be two consecutive exhibitions curated by Orkney’s art teachers of selected art work by Primary and Secondary school pupils.
